James Dutton is a Lecturer in English and Media Studies at ʹڲƱ Canberra. He completed his PhD at ʹڲƱ Sydney in 2018, where he taughtin English and Media Studies on casual contracts between 2017 and 2023.

His research is directed towards literary theory. He has published on topics related to twentieth century and contemporary European philosophy and literature. He is the author ofProust between Deleuze and Derrida: The Remains of Literature(Edinburgh UP, 2022), and articles in leading academic journals includingParagraph,Cultural Politics,Textual Practice,andCultural Critique.
